The Calathea Whitestar is a tropical houseplant also known as the "living plant". The Calathea owes this nickname to a unique characteristic: its leaves close when it gets dark and open again when it gets light. The Calathea is originally from the jungles of South America, where the plant is accustomed to high humidity. You can regularly mist the plant with a spray bottle. It is best to give the Calathea small amounts of water regularly. Make sure the potting soil is always slightly moist. In winter, you can water the Calathea a little less. As soon as the heating comes on, the air becomes drier. The Calathea is not used to dry air. To prevent the plant from dying, it is important to continue misting regularly. The best location for this plant is in partial shade. Place the Calathea in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight.
